Scholarship Committee: The RISCPA Scholarship Committee has been busy through the winter reviewing the applications of area college students majoring in accountancy and finance who have applied for scholarship awards presented annually by RISCPA. We checked in with Scholarship Committee Chair Rachel Paliotti who explained the Committee has been busy reviewing student applications from various colleges for three scholarships - Carl W. Christiansen, Cheryl A. Ruggiero and KLR/Brian A. Altomari Memorial Fund. “We were able to award scholarships ranging from $683 to $5,000 to four extremely diligent, intelligent and industrious students,” says Rachel. “These students have demonstrated significant technical and analytical ability, superb teamwork skills, exceptional leadership skills and excellent communication skills which embody the values the RISCPA scholarships represent.” The Scholarship honorees will be announced at the Society’s annual Recognition Reception on April 23. Anyone seeking more information about the Scholarship Committee, can contact Rachel at: Rachel.Paliotti@bcbsri.org. We want to thank our tax pros who participated in the program. Tracy Hess of Piccerelli, Gilstein & Co., served as moderator for the program for the first time this year and did a marvelous job! Joining Tracy for the discussion was panel veterans Pat Thompson, also of Piccerelli, Gilstein & Co., and Greg Porcaro of Ortrando, Porcaro & Associates. Check out our ace CPA TV team if you have not yet seen the program!
