RISCPA/RI Business Forum Extends Farewell Wishes to Neil Downing
Please join RISCPA/RI Business Forum as we say goodbye and extend warm wishes to Neil Downing. Downing, who announced his retirement recently from the RI Division of Taxation, was a valuable advocate and ally for many years to the CPA profession and Rhode Island taxpayers alike. Prior to joining the Division, he spent 34 years working in the newspaper business, notably 30 years at the Providence Journal. While at the Journal, Downing obtained a master's degree in taxation from what is now Bentley University and went on to complete the financial planning program at Boston University and became licensed as an Enrolled Agent and a Certified Financial Planner.
During his tenure at the Division, Downing, along with valued colleagues, was instrumental in reinstating the Division's newsletter, initiating the annual "Seminar for Tax Preparers", the Division's blog, and the Division's Twitter account; these contributions continue to benefit RISCPA/RI Business Forum members today.
Downing and his wife, Vicki-Ann, Director of Editorial Services at Providence College, live in North Dighton, Mass., and are parents to three grown children.
