III.  Additional Updates

This information comes from other State Agencies, as well as other external sources such as the National Business Emergency Operations Center run by FEMA.

    1. At her daily briefing on Friday, May 22, Governor Raimondo shared her Phase 2 reopening plan, which if the numbers continue to remain stable, is scheduled to start on Monday, June 1. It is important to note that Phase 1 is still in effect until then. The emphasis in Phase 2 continues to be reopening the economy and virtually all businesses will be allowed to reopen - with restrictions - in this phase. This includes indoor dining, gyms, hair salons, and other businesses that continue to remain closed. With regards to office-based businesses, they will be allowed to bring back up to 1/3 of their workforce, although the Governor emphasized that employees who can work from home should continue to do so. A Phase 2 preview is contained in document “Reopening RI Phase II Navigating Our Way 05.22.20” which is on the Alliance website and also on the ReopeningRI website. Much more on this next week.
    2. RI Commerce Corporation, in collaboration with the RI Emergency Management Agency, completed allocation of PPE supplies this week to RI chambers of commerce & trade organizations for distribution to small businesses.
    3. Keep checking the ReopeningRI website for guidance updates and continue to stay the course on work from home, social distancing, wearing masks, and all other restrictions designed to protect our safety and safety of our workers & citizens.
