A MEMORIAL TRIBUTE
 
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of former RISCPA Executive Director, Raymond C. Church. Ray was very much a friend of the profession, as he admirably served the Society for seventeen years. As many know, Ray’s second love was politics and he equally excelled in that arena as he did representing the many fine members of RISCPA. Prior to his societal duties, Ray was elected North Smithfield, Rhode Island Town Administrator and served from 1987-1989. Concurrent to his Directorship at RISCPA, Ray continued his involvement as a member of the North Smithfield Democratic Town Committee. Later, approaching retirement, Ray was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives and was appointed a member of the prestigious House Finance Committee. Post retirement, his efforts as a key member of the House Finance Committee helped propel our Mobility Legislation to fruition. A friend, colleague and, in every way, a fine gentleman, Ray Church was laid to rest today, March 28, 2011. Befitting the man and, in recognition of his service in Vietnam, he received Military Honors.
